In 1971, after Papa Eddie died suddenly of a heart attack at age 61, Mama Anne had to quickly take over Drossman Jewelry. Papa Eddie’s long-term friends/fellow jewelers from “the Exchange” lovingly showed her the ropes. With their support, and her natural charm and business savvy, not only did she maintain and sustain Drossman Jewelry, but she built it into a thriving marketplace…

Their daughter, Phyllis, and their daughter-in-law, Ellen, began helping out in the late 70’s…

Phyllis and Ellen continued in the tradition set by Mama and Papa - they worked closely with their dedicated customers, many of whom remain with them to this day…

In the early 2000’s, the Paramount Diamond Exchange, which had existed on the corner of the Bowery and Canal Street since 1935, was to be replaced by a bank. The many second-generation jewelry businesses were forced to move…

Ed Drossman, grandson of Papa Eddie and his namesake, was Drossman Jewelry’s resident Public Relations adviser at the time and got remarkable press about this move:
